Michael and Nicole Colovos

Designers of the week will the the dynamic duo Michael and Nicole Colovos. Best known for their time with the Helmut Lang label. Fall 2014 would be their last fashion show they would present but they left on a good note. They took over the reins of the label in 2005 which landed them eight great years. The CEO of Helmut Lang is sincerely thankful for the Colovos commitment and knows that they will go far. Born in Spain, Michael traveled over seas to the United States in 1975. It was 1995 when Michael went to New York City to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. A year later, he relocated to Italy for continue his studies.
He worked for Guy Laroche for a brief time before launching Colovos in 1998. It was in 2001 when Michael met his partner in crime; Nicole Garrett. Garrett studied photography, art, and art history at Selwyn College. In 1991, she became a full time fashion editor for Australian Elle. Soon after Harper's Bazaar's Fashion Editor in 1997 to a Senior Market Editor. Last but not least Garrett finally met Colovos. Launching Habitual together, she resigned with Harper's Bazaar. After getting married in 2003, they moved to Los Angeles to contribute the growing success of their brand. On top of their own, they joined the board of Helmut Lang and reinvented the brand which meant moving back to New York. Their subtle details and construction landed them the designers to watch.
