Dries Van Noten Visual Display

Dries Van Noten has so many variety Visual Displays; it was hard to choose from. I decided to choose what I thought was the most creative.
This display is similar in the aspects of the 3d effect with the wood sticks. What makes this different then the last is that the wood sticks look like they have been burned and or dipped in a substance to create that light to dark effect. They too also create a ruffle effect but this is a tighter version which definitely is true to the garment in the display as well as the color. Dries Van Noten is known for his ruffles and having this creative idea in the display is a work of art. Definitely eye catching and makes you want to look at it longer. I would give this 10/10
The reason for this display is that they went the camouflage route. Using his signature floral print, they made the background as well as the floor, the same as the outfit in the display. Makes you stop to look and make sure that what you’re seeing is accurate. It’s a nice change of pace to actually use the background to hide the clothes. Even though Dries Van Noten is known for the wow factor and mixing prints, it was a change. I would give this a 9/10
The layering upon layering of squares to create that 3d effect is a good idea. Being strategically placed helps draw the eye right to the mannequin. Adding the small purple and green squares for an added color brings the eye right to the middle where the mannequin stands. I like how the floor as well is made up of squares and not in a flat surface. Almost reminds me of pixilation when a picture is blown up. With such a complex background, the outfit in the display was a good idea for relaxing the eye but still having a connection to the display. I would give this a 10/10
The 3d effect with the wood sticks was genius for the display. To do it in such a way that doesn’t look messy but a work of art. Mimicking the ruffle effect which is also true to his collection is what I admire most. Instead of a plain white backboard, he chose to do a work of art. The pop of yellow in the outfit helps draw the attention from the display to the mannequin. The marble effect on the floor adds elegance to the whole display as well as the garments. Definitely eye catching! I would give this a 10/10
I enjoy this display. It has a mixture of femininity and masculinity in the clothes as well as the drawing on the back board. The drawings still have a little of 3d effect but not like the last two displays that was shown. It’s more settled and has his signature floral piece. I like how the color on the board, on the garments and the floor creates this cohesion while still making a statement. Not to mention, how on the board, the art looks like it starts on the right and burst to the left which is leading to the mannequin. I would give this a 10/10
