Christopher Kane London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014
Creative. Show opens up with beautiful architecture. The runway is a wrap around the room with the audience outlining it. Line presents suits, work wear, cut outs, dresses, skirts, boxy style, sheer, metallic, drapery, asymmetry, evening wear, patterns, prints, graphics, texture, sequence, and sweaters. Color consists of black, silver, purple, blue, beige, green, pastels, white, gold, and pink. Love the pop of color and in pastels. This collection was very interesting. Some pieces ran on the border line of costume while others made you think. There are some unique ideas. I can see a lot of our fashionistas taking these pieces and making it their own. The runway and background of the show does give a rich feeling as well as being clean cut. However, not every piece was a clean cut, sophisticated rich look. Metaphorically speaking. I feel like something should of been added to the background. Overall this would get 8/10
Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 2014
Average. Show opens to the audience being on one side. Runway is made up of cement, walls are black with a color light along the middle of it. Line presents layering, suits, work wear, menswear inspired, ruffles, leather, sequence, metallic, lace, trench coat, destroyed, blazer, fur coat, fabric warp, patterns, texture, drapery, and volume. Color consists of black, green, beige, pink, white, and gray. Some of the pieces definitely have that wow factor in them but others was a miss for me. Based on the industry's scale, I'm not sure if people will accept some of these pieces. The styles wasn't on point but the idea was there. The runway was pretty basic and didn't do anything to help the collection. Overall this would get 5/10.
Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2015 London Fashion Week
Average. Line presents leather pants, stripes, loose, knit, dresses, pleats, evening wear, work wear, sheer, asymmetry, volume, drapery, ruffles, tool, suits, leather jackets, patter, rope style, Color consists of maroon, white, black, blue, gray, cream, and baby blue. The random ruffle on the left side of the dress was a miss for me. Not many people will like a random ruffle/tool on their hip but the idea of knots, twist, and knit along the dresses was unique. Definitely different but eye catching. Not something that has been seen from other designers. Once again there are some pieces that are a miss but I know if styled different, it could create a whole other look. The runway was cohesive with the show. The vertical lines on the wall helps draw the eye to the collection. Overall, this would get 7/10
Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 2015 London Fashion Week
Creative. Classic straight runway with the audience on one side. Line presents dresses, trench coat, peacoat, work wear, color blotch pattern, velvet, layering, sheer, tool, asymmetry, skirts, leather, ruffles, patterns, long sleeve, turtle necks, wool, floral, and art. Color consists of black, blue, red, white, and purple. Grabbing velvet and giving it a twist was interesting. Not many people like velvet but the new ideas for velvet worked. There is some elegant pieces as well as stiff pieces. The pieces that have the art on them, you almost have to do a double take to realize that its naked people doing sexual moves. You are almost drawn to figuring out what is going on and is there more then on person on this piece. Overall this would get 8/10
