Designer of the week is the Singapore born Nepali fashion designer; Prabal Gurung. Unlike most designers, Gurung didn't start off in fashion. However, he did eventually go into fashion went attending the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi, India. Once out of college, he hit the ground running. He apprenticed at several productions, fashion houses, as well as designing with Manish Arora. After a while, Gurung moved to New York where he attended Parsons School of Design while interning with Donna Karan. Many opportunities have come Gurungs way. Two years with Cynthia Rowley's design team, five years with Bill Blass as the design director and then finally launching his own collection called PRABAL GUGUNG in 2009. Since then, he continues to get recognized for his flare of fashion. Not just with the fashion world but you may remember when the first lady wore his piece.
