Designer of the week is Alexandre Herchcovitch. Growing up, his first interaction with fashion was through his mother with the basics of sewing. He would wear the clothes that he designed as well as his mother which started to grow attention. His friends started wanting his pieces, therefore, he would start selling them. Years later, he launched his first collection in 1994. Herchcovitch is a designer that has mastered transforming classic into modern, simple into glamorous, easy into complex. When observing his collections, you will find geometric style, brash patterns and religious iconography, fantasy, freaky constructions of molded rubber and gargantuan sequins, and utilitarian streak that's sometimes politically charged. Herchcovitch is best known for his Tyvek dress, Avant-Garde designs, electric prints, trademark skulls and new take on the tuxedo. Herchcovitch has held to his vision and become Brazil's most notable fashion designer. His collections are one of a kind and they definitely leave you wanting to see more.
