Louis Vuitton Malletier

Designer of the week is the one and only Louis Vuitton Malletier. Also known for Louis Vuitton. Probably one of my favorite designers. The Louis Vuitton brand has expanded since coming alive in 1854. At a young age, Vuitton lost his family. He decided to walk all the way to Paris which was 292 miles away. He took up odd jobs which lead him to being an apprentice in the workshop of a successful box maker. He soon left and started to create his own box making and packaging workshop. Which lead to the creation of the trunks. In 1985, what started Louis Vuitton was the introduction of the trunks. The round and or flat trunk made the scene. Vuitton would always switch things up to stay ahead of his competitors. Louis Vuitton's passing in 1892 was hard for those who was around him. However, the company was passed on to his son Georges Vuitton. To continue in his father footsteps, he travels to many locations, getting ideas and inspirations to keep the brand name on top. Building the brand with Japanese trend and Oriental designs in the late Victorian era which helped stopped the counterfeiting.
A troublesome situation that every designer runs into. In 1936, Georges Vuitton joined his father making the family tradition continue with his son, Gaston-Louis Vuitton taking control of the company. Creating the next big thing, Vuitton came up with incorporating leather into most products with introduced small purses, wallets and larger luggage. This was to revamp the brand in order to broaden it. Louis Vuitton saw something huge when he created this brand and the fact that his family is keeping his memory alive but at the same time reinventing it so that it can shine is amazing. It wasn't till 1997, when Marc Jacobs joined the company creating it's first pret-a-porter line of clothing for men and women. From 2006-2012, Louis Vuitton was named the worlds most valuable luxury brand as well as one of the worlds most international leading fashion houses selling anything from luxury pieces and leather goods to ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, and books. Nicolas Ghesquiere took his place in 2012. From then on, Louis Vuitton has hit the top charts for the fashion industry. Expanding more then 50 stores, they are a brand that you should inspire to beat and or be with.
