Designer of the week is the one and only Clare Waight Keller. Waight Keller got to start at a young age with fashion when her mother taught knitting. Growing up, she decided to go to Ravensbourne College of Art where she pursued Fashion. She graduated with a BA in fashion. Waight Keller then continue to go on for a MA degree at The Royal College of Art for Fashion Knitwear. After graduation, she secured a job with Calvin Klein working on his womens wear that then lead to Ralph Lauren. Working for the Purple Label Menswear taught her menswear as well as training in tailoring. In 2000, Waight Keller had the pleasure of working for Tom Ford at Gucci and then in 2005, she became the creative director of Pringle of Scotland where she reinvented the brand.
Waight Keller presented her first collection in Spring 2006. Being with Pringle of Scotland was a great stepping stone but Waight Keller felt it was time to move on. Waight Keller joined Chloe as the creative director. Chloe is the most prestigious brand and is happy to have Waight Keller on their team. It is an amazing opportunity to work under Tom Ford with Gucci, Ralph Lauren, along side Christopher Bailey, as well as many other well known designers and brands. I look forward to seeing what Waight Keller brings to the table.
