Designer of the week is Billy Reid. Reid is best known for his classic styles with high quality fabrics. Many describe his collections as a low-fi Southern-bred luxury with unusual accents. This Louisiana designer grew up with an interest in fashion. He handled a women's clothing boutique in his grandmother's home before attending the Art Institute of Dallas. While studying Fashion design and merchandising, Reid worked for Saks Fifth Avenue and then worked for Reebok International. Reid would travel around the world learning and getting inspired from the creation of Greg Norman. It wasn't till 1955, Reid decided to finally start his own company. His first collection was shown in 1998. However, due to the economy, his business closed down in 2002. A while after, he tried again to open a couple of small shops that had a different approach. This time around, they had a more of a hospitable environment. These small shops are growing quicker then Reids first time around. With the flagship store in Alabama, the company continues to get better and grow.
