Designer of the week is Gianni Versace. He was the first designer to link fashion to the music world. In the mid 1970's, Gianni had worked for many designer brands before presenting his first signature collection. Gianni brought vitality and art to the industry. He would create a wide range of siren dresses that became his trademark. One of his most famous creations was the black dress that was held together by gold safety pins worn by Elizabeth Hurley in 1994.
He was known to create garments that were on a fine line of sexy and to a point of vulgarity. Using striking colors, materials, and unique cuts. He enjoyed pushing the limits in order to question good taste. The collections that Gianni had created are: Gianni Versace Couture, Instante, Versus, Versace Classic V2, and GVII. In these collections, you can see that his inspiration came from ancient Rome and Greek art as well as abstract art.
