Zac Posen

Designer of the week is the one and only Zac Posen. Inspired by fashion at a young age, he would start making dresses for dolls out of yarmulkes. Sophomore in High School, Posen interned with Nicole Miller. At the age of 16, he enrolled in Parsons The New School for Design which is a pre-college program. Mentored by Richard Martin, at the age of 18, Posen was accepted into womenswear degree program at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. When creating a dress for Naomi Campbell, Posen received his big break in the year of 2000. He is well connected and his muse is Stella Schnabel.
When returning to New York in 2001, an atelier was set up in his parents living room. He was later chosen to present a capsule collection as part of GenArt's Fresh Faces in Fashion which provided him a grant of $20,000. This made it possible to create and feature his first collection. Over the years, he has established his design studio, won awards, and grow his fan base among designers, celebrities and the public. Posen's strong, feminine aesthetic has made brought Posen to the top of the most well known designers around the world. Currently, Zac Posen is featured on the hit television series Project Runway as one of the judges. Definitely knowledgeable and to the point. He is by far a designer to keep up with!
