Alessandro Dell'Acqua

Designer of the week is the talented Alessandro Dell'Acqua. Presenting his first pret-a-porter collection at Milan Moda Donna in 1996 as well as his first men's line at Pitti in Florence in 1998. He took over as creative director for Malo. By spring of 2009, he sent out a press release that men's and women's Spring/Summer 2010 collections will be produced without his approval. At this time, he discussed how he was leaving ways from his label. His next collection showed at Milan Fashion Week fall 2009. However, this was not the end of Alessandro Dell'Acqua. He made a come back with a new label called No.21. The name came from his birthday and it was also his lucky number. In 2010, it was his official year to show No.21 featuring dresses, knitwear and so on to outerwear. However, After leaving Malo, he was appointed as the new creative director at Brioni, then a couple years later at Les Copains. Happy with the partnership, Brioni increased in profits which allowed them to open 10 stores across China. He also got the opportunity to become the creative director for Rochas. Obviously not all at once but this as well as the other two labels helped in shaping what he wanted to create for his label. Roches has brought inspiration to Dell'Acqua. His label No.21 takes on a modern new design direction. Dell'Acqua wanted his brand to be affordable to real women. Dell'Acque feels more comfortable with No. 21 then what he was with his first label. A great example of someone who loves his job and what he has created.
