Tom Ford

Designer of the week is Tom Ford, also known as Thomas Carlyle. He is an American fashion designer as well as a film director. Unlike many designers whose families had a hand in seamstress work or retail. Along those lines, Ford wanting to focus on his acting. He was in many television commercials and then he wanted to study interior which lead him to Parsons The New School for Design. Before his last year at Parsons, he decides to spend a year in Paris which sparked his interest in Fashion when he interned at Chloe's press office sending clothes out on photoshoots. His final year at Parsons was spent studying fashion. After graduation, Ford would contact Cathy Hardwick everyday for a month till she agree to see him. Eventually he worked as a design assistant for Hardwick.
After two years, he moved to Perry Ellis and then moved out of America. He felt he could become a better designer if he left America. He felt America looked down on being too stylish but Europeans appreciate style. This lead him to Gucci which back then, not many people thought of working for Gucci as well as wear it. He strengthened Gucci's women's ready to wear collection and then started designing menswear within six months as well as shoes soon afterwards. Ford left Gucci in 2004 and started his own. Creating menswear, accessories, beauty and eyewear in 2006. Since then, he has become a well known designer. In his spare time, he produced the film called A Single Man which premiered September 11, 2009. He continues to flourish!
Sadly, his past fashion shows are with Gucci but for this post, it needs to stay true to Tom Ford. His early collections are not featured on Youtube or on any other website.
