Diane Von Furstenberg

Designer of the week is the lovely Diane Von Furstenberg. The Belgian born American designer is best known for her wrap dresses. At a young age, she moved to Paris and worked as an assistant to fashion photographer's agent, Alnert Koski. Months later, she leaves Paris for Italy to work as an apprentice to textile manufacturer Angelo Ferretti which was the start of Von Furstenbergs love for fashion. She designed her first silk jersey dresses. In 1970, Von Furstenberg began designing women's clothing with a $30,000 investment. She wanted to become someone and so she moved to New York to meet with Vogue editor Diana Vreeland.
Diana Vreeland loved Von Furstenbergs designs and had her name put on the Fashion Calendar for New Yorks Fashion Week. In 1985, she started multiple other jobs such as a cosmetics line and a home shopping business which was launched in 1991.After selling 1.2 million dollars worth of silk assets to QVC, she regained confidence to relaunched her company in 1997.
