Designer of the week is Monique Lhuillier. She is best known for bridal wear and capturing the essence of sophistication by provoking femininity in her gowns. Her couture fashion house is based in Los Angeles, California. She went to Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising to study design. How she started was when she was searching for her own gown for her wedding. The lack of fashion infused in bridal gowns surprised her so she created her first bridal collection in 1996.

She opened her first retail store in 2001 and in 2004 her wedding dresses got noticed internationally. Celebrities have been seen wearing the gowns to weddings as well as red carpet gowns. Her collection now includes ready-to-wear, bridal, bridesmaids, evening gowns as well as linens, tableware, fine paper, and home fragrances.
