What Not to Wear is a makeover reality television series
hosted by Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. Participants are nominated by
co-workers, friends, relatives and sometimes self-nominations. When the
participant is nominated, they're secretly followed and videotaped for two
weeks. At the end of the two weeks, the nominee finally meets Stacy and Clinton. They choose a
couple of outfits out of their wardrobe to show in the 360-degree mirror room where Stacy and Clinton will critique the outfits. They then look at the nominee’s
whole wardrobe and throw away garments that don’t flatter the nominee's
body shape, skin tone, hammy downs, not age appropriate, and or out of date.
After picking through the nominee’s wardrobe, they get a 5,000.00 Visa debit card to go shopping by Stacy’s and Clinton’s rules that are based on the nominee’s age, body shape, and profession. On the first day of shopping, the nominee is followed by the camera crew to see if they're following the rules. On the second day of shopping, Stacy and Clinton show up and help the nominee. Once the shopping is complete, the nominee gets their haircut and shown how to do their makeup. The final results are shown at the end of the show with a remarkable change.
