The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to Sex and the City
featuring Carrie Bradshaw at a young age during the early 1980’s. The series
shows how Carrie wanted to attend school for journalism and how her father
wanted her to follow in his footsteps. However, Carrie applied for a writing
program but didn’t gain acceptance. With the setback, Carrie wasn’t going to
let anything get in her way of becoming a future writer. When a new boy enters her school, names
Sebastian, the two hit it off. To get any experience as a writer, she
writes for the school newspaper. As the series progress, Sebastian and Carrie
get close till Sebastian cheats on her with one of her friends, Lali. Carrie
finds out that Sebastian and Lali have been dating secretly.
To get her focus off of them, she writes about students and exposing them in the newspaper as well as taking up photography. Towards the end of her senior year, she decides to make up with everyone, even Lali and Sebastian. Lali tells her that she caught Sebastian kissing her sister so they broke up. Carrie laughs but moves forward to New York for a summer program. Losing her money and address, she calls a number that her friend, Donna, gave her which leads her to Samantha Jones. Samantha and Carrie becomes friends. In Season two, you see Samantha Jones and how at a young age, she was sex hungry. You also get a glimpse of Carrie writing about sex because she was struggling to write an essay. Carrie and Sebastian give the relationship another go but Sebastian has a secret that he has been keeping from Carrie. The last episode leaves a satisfying ending to the series.
