Designer of the week is Brian Atwood. His love for fashion begun at a young age when he interested by his mothers clothes and accessories. It wasn't till Atwood got to the Fashion Institute of Technology that he took his passion for fashion to the next level. Surprisingly, he didn't stay in New York. Atwood moved to Europe to become a runway model. This actually went for several years but in his free time, he would sketch which would later become part of his start up brand. Gianni Versace was actually the one who discovered Atwood. Versace hired Atwood as the head designer of accessories. This furthered his career to eventually becoming the Creative Director of Bally from 2007 to 2009. After revitalizing the storied Swiss brand, Atwood left to focus solely on designing under his own label. Soon after was names Show Designer of the year in 2010 and 2011 by the Red Carpet Fashion Awards. Best Accessory Designer and Designer of the year as well in 2010.
Atwood's brand is known for its exquisite craftsmanship, design and the attention to detail. Atwood infuses glamour, lust and desire into everything he designs. Showing as well as tugging on every women's whimsical relation with shoes. Some may say the Cinderella affect. When you slip on that shoe and just fall in love with the way it feels. Like a magical moment. Now who wouldn't want to feel like Cinderella every time they put on a beautiful heel? However, at some point, Atwood told his assets to The Jones Group. Later he had Steve Madden help get his eponymous shoe label back. Even though Steve Madden is the majority shareholder, Atwood has creative and operation control of the design, production, and distribution of his luxury line.
