Designer of the week is Behnaz Sarafpour. New York based designer, member of CFDA and a designer everyone should take note of. Launched her first official collection in 2001 after graduating from Parsons School of Design. Sarafpour is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She was honored with the Golden Thimble Award as well as getting sponsored to show her collections in New York. Since the start of her brand, she has collaborated with many other brands/companies which has only elevated her own label.
Through the years, she has been doing research on creating things that are organic and environmental friendly. By 2008, she presented a organic sportswear collection. This was the start to her always adding if not some but all pieces that would be eco-friendly in her future collections. If you were and are still someone that keeps up with Michelle Obama, you may have seen Michelle Obama award Sarafpour with the National Design Award. As one of the top five designers, you can tell she had a challenge that obviously she won. Some say that she doesn't show when something is making her nervous. She just get's to designing and literally brings it to life. Anything she wants to get her hands on, she wouldn't let anything get in her way of accomplishing her goals. Very inspirational!
