Designer of the week is Tim Weiland also known as Timo Weiland. Born in Nebraska but raised in Florida, this American designer actually studied economics, spanish literature, and business management at Vanderbilt University before getting on the path of fashion industry. Weiland did however, grow up with the interest in fashion after learning how to sew from his mother. So it wasn't a surprise that this would be the path that he would eventually land on. It was actually smart to learn multiple fields to help elevate his ultimate career and have something to land on in case anything didn't work out right at first.
Weiland actually would handle multiple things at once. After graduating from college, he began working as a corporate analyst in investment banking for Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc in New York City and ultimately started up TIMO. All in 2006, which is very impressive. We all know that it's hard to get into the field you want right out of college. So going into banking for money to pay for the bills and help to get TIMO off the ground was absolutely the right choice. With co-founders, Alan Eckstein and Donna Kang, they climbed up the DJ circuit under the stage name "Timo+Alan" which they would preform gigs at the most popular hotspots in New York.
By 2018, they cofounded The Lead, which actually helps fashion and lifestyle retailers find business opportunities in the technology market. Bridging both communities by organizing events and producing a quarterly publication. After being the jack of all trades, Weiland continues to get his hand in whatever interests him. With the many recognition's and awards Weiland has been receiving, Weiland continues to be the designer on the most watch list.
