Designer of the week is the one and only Bernhard Willhelm. This German designer has a twist to his collections that you are sure not to get bored with. It is this uniqueness that makes his collections memorable as well as a show stopper. A sense of creative humor, perceptions of reality, questions of diversity, culture along with eccentric silhouettes. Full of craftsmanship, eclecticism, and irony.
While studying fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Willhelm assisted some of the well known designers Walter van Beirendonck, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Dirk Bikkembergs. Along side Jutta Kraus, he created his fashion house in 1998 and showed his first womenswear in 1999 followed by his first menswear in 2000. Catching the eye of many, Willhelm became the creative director of fashion house Capucci through 2004. Through the years, Willhelm and his team have been transported to Austria, Puerto Vallarta and finally to Los Angeles. With many collaborations, it is no surprise that many designers want to work side by side with Willhelm.
If you check out some of his fashion shows, you will see that he likes to do off the wall hair and makeup ideas on the models. My favorite is the mustache. You don't see that everyday in a fashion show. It's these random changes that makes you remember the collection even more.
