Designer of the week is Shane Gabier. Currently co-founder of Creatures of the Wind with Chris Peters. Like many designer brands, they were awarded CFDA in 2011 Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up and 2012 Swarovski Award for Womenswear. For years, this brand has attracted attention for its quirky aesthetic and unconventional mix of fabrics. Now how all this started was after attending the Art Institute of Chicago.
Which if you are thinking about going to this school, I would recommend it. I did a piece at this school and the whole time I was there, it was very memorable. Gabier and Peters met at the Institute. Gabier was the professor for the institute while Peter was just a student. Like many, they had ideas and decided to just go for it. Forming a close friendship, the duo launched their label as Wild is the Wind. Creatures of the Wind came soon after. Remaining eye catching designs, Gabier and Peters have become designers the fashion world is keeping an eye on.
