Designer of the week is Stuart Weitzman. This entrepreneur worked for his dads shoe factory in Haverhill, Massachusetts, called "Seymour Shoes". After his father passed away, Weitzman and his brother ran the factory till 1970 when they sold the company. It wasn't till 1994 when the company was bought back but this time would be known as Stuart Weitzman. His designs turned many heads for his one of a kind million dollar shoe. You have actually seen some of his shoes be worn by Oscar nominee's at the Academy Awards. Did you know that Diablo Cody declined wearing his shoes to the Oscars In 2007? If you are someone that actually keeps up with fashion and news, this was actually something that shocked many. Yes, we are entitled to wear whatever we want but if someone wants to dress you and or provide you a piece from their collection, it's almost insulting to decline but it's business.
This didn't stop Weitzman from offering to many other celebrities of course. You'll see Beyonce, Taylor Swift as well as many other celebrities showing off these shoes many times at the awards. What makes these shoes stand out from others isn't just the price tag but the use of unconventional and unique materials. With the attention to detail, Weitzman's designs are eccentric, exquisite and most recognizable. Weitzman is a very smart business man. After stepping down, Weitzman let many companies have their hands in his company which I think is actually smart to keep the brand relevant. With new materials, techniques, and silhouettes, Weitzman continues to make shoes that are not just good looking but comfortable. Be sure to check out his latest collection!
