Love the fact that you can hide how thin and or thick your hair is when it comes to braids. If done correctly, you can show off the hairs natural beauty and shine with every weave. Braids create a natural lasting wave as well as helping to bring the over all look together. Its a settle beauty that can be twisted and pulled into many directions. This is why braids will never get old.

Vivienne Westwood

Designer of the week is a British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. After attending Glossop Grammar School and moving to Harrow, Middlesex to study silversmithing at Harrow School of Art. Westwood began to wonder how a working-class woman like herself would be able to make a living in the art world. Continuing to learn what she could, she got a job in the factory and went for studying at a teacher training college where eventually she became a teacher. When she picked up jewelry making, this is what sparked her interest in designing.
This path eventually brought her to Malcolm McLaren who is a major inspiration to her punk fashion. The ability to synthesis clothing and music shaped the 1970's UK punk scene. Westwood started to be known as the designer who brought modern punk and new waves into the mainstream. This turned many heads in which Westwood was able to expand and open many shops within London to eventually internationally. Westwoods clothing spoke volumes and this was what Westwood wanted. You couldn't go to a show and not hear her clothing speak for themselves in a metaphorically way. If you have seen the movie Sex and the City, you got to see the most iconic dress to be featured from Westwood. When she sends Carrie Bradshaw this beautiful gown that Carrie would wear to her wedding. If you have not seen the movie, it's a definite must see!
Another important note is that Westwood also did dabble in men's wear at one point. Focusing on functional designs, primarily for work but still contain her flair as a designer, Westwood worked closely with Richard Branson. If anyone is doing any project on Sustainable Fashion, Westwood would be a great designer to look into. Branson and Westwood focused on impacting the environment. Passionate about using sustainable materials throughout their designs. Though the years, Westwood continues to win awards, shock the fashion industry and inspiring others.

Can't help a good curl. Lately I've been on this obsession with curly hair. Don't know if my hair is just doing what I want it to do or what but curly hair has been my go too look for the past week. For this week, try to get that perfect wave/curl. Once you have it, try to remember how you got it. lastly, repeat your action for a great week! Switch it up if you was. Add a little spice and or drama to it. Be creative!

Vera Wang

Designer of the week is the beautiful Vera Wang. Anyone who loves fashion and hopes to make it a career should add Vera Wang to their bucket list of designers to meet. Did you know that at an early age Wang was a figure skater who actually made it into the Sports Illustrated magazine? She even tried to go further but when she failed to make the U.S. Olympics team, Wang chose to switch things up. This is when she went into the fashion industry. Some say that some of Wangs pieces have this majestic feeling to them of a ballerina on the ice. Upon graduation from Sarah Lawrence College, Wang was hired to be an editor at Vogue. She was the youngest editor that's ever been hired on to Vogue at the time.
Unlike many, she also stayed with the company for 17 years. That's a huge commitment to the company. In 1987, Wang did try working for Ralph Lauren for a couple years but this is when she started to think about coming up with her own label. She understood the business and had many that cheered her on. Wang became an independent bridal wear designer. She doesn't stop at bridal. Wang has also created evening wear and costumes. As awards started to flow in, Wang started to become the most desired designer. Do you remember that saying, "You don't alter a Vera to fit you, you alter yourself to fit Vera"? This quote was actually featured in Bride Wars featuring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. Some people actually live by this saying. Wang appreciates the love people have for her designers but wishes people would not live by this saying. Wangs pieces still to today continue to be featured in shows and movies. I'm for sure looking forward to seeing what Vera Wang comes up with next.

Fab five looks for the week

My go to look. With this constant weather change, comfortable has been my best friend. Love the off shoulder loose sweater/shirt look. It's just enough to cover you up but with the loose fit, it allows air flow. You honestly can't go wrong with these looks.

Raf Simons

Designer of the week is Raf Simons. With a birthday around the corner, this Belgian fashion designer is still making celebrities talk. Simons launched his first menswear label in 1995. Through the years he has proven to be able to keep up with top high fashion brands. In 2012, he became the creative director at Christian Dior. Gaining the experience and network that he was looking for, in 2015 Simons left Christian Dior for Calvin Klein. Simons focused on the steps he needed to take to get further in fashion. Simons first collection under Calvin Klein was debuted Fall 2017.
Like many, Simons went to a design school, graduated and found a job that would eventually help him get a step in the fashion world. Simons did start off with Furniture design before going to fashion. His first fashion show that he got to see was with Walter Van Beirendonck during Paris Fashion Week at Martin Margiela's all-white show in 1990. This is when Simons got inspired. Fashion was no longer just superficial, all glitz and glamour. He saw the art, creativity, and story that the collection presented. He walked away from that fashion show knowing that fashion is what he wanted to do. Through the years he continues to shock the industry but the one that really got heads to turn was when he announces the Kardashian-Jenner family as the new faces of Calvin Klein in January 2018.
Sadly this month is when Simons parted ways from Calvin Klein. Simons and the management had clashed in which resulted in their split. This isn't the end for Simons and by all means the split wasn't because the ideas from Simons were bad and or didn't get the buzz that they wanted. Other things were involved in which it lead to the split. Keep your eyes open for what Simons will do next.
