Designer of the week is Jil Sanders. This German designer started off at Krefeld School of Textiles before moving to Los Angeles to be at the University of California. It wasn't till she then moved to New York that she got the experience to work under a fashion magazine. After the unexpected death of her father, Sanders decided to start her career. After five years, the birth of the label Jil Sander happened. For help, the Prada Group stepped in and bought 75% of the company while keeping Jil the chairwoman. However, this turned to not be the best idea. Due to differences, Sanders resigned from the company which the company ended up loosing millions due to flat sales. Sanders did come back to the company to negotiate with Prada. Although, this kind of situation continued through out the years, resigning and then coming back to the company, It's obvious that the company flourished when she was with the label. This made a point but in my defense, I would of chose a different rout to make a point. I would love to have my own label. Once this is accomplished, I will never leave it and that's a promise. Jil Sanders is a strong brand but it will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of years.
