Designer of the week is Donna Karan who is also known for the alias "DK". She is the creator of the clothing brand DKNY. Karan grew up with amazing role models. Her mother as a model and her father as a tailor. Joining Parsons School of Design, she continued her path to fashion. She eventually worked for Anne Klein after leaving college as their assistant designer till she became the head of the design team. She remained there till 1985 when she decided to launch her own label. With the help from her husband, Stephan Weiss, and Takihyo Corporation, Karan was able to show her first modern collection. If you know Karan, you know that when she speaks about her collection, it's something that she is passionate about. However in 2015, she announced that she would be stepping down from her company. This is what I find sad. Even though she worked hard to create her company and she has spent years in the industry. I just can't find the urge to leave my own company. However, Nina Garcia and I both wonder if 2016 is going to be a game changer for the fashion world. Designers are switching, stepping down and so on. Let's see how 2016 ends up!
