Designer of the week is Sarah Burton. Which you may know her as the creative director of the fashion brand Alexander McQueen. Burton is also well known for the amazing tailored wedding dress that she created for Catherine Middleton's wedding as well as Pippa Middleton's maid of honour dress. Her path to fashion started after completing an art foundation course at Manchester Polytechnic. Burton studied Print Fashion at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Lone and behold, during her third year, she was interviewed to tutor McQueen's friend Simon Ungless, then interned for McQueen and finally after graduation, she joined the company full time. Being McQueens personal assistant gave her the opportunity to learn, develop and network. Burton has had the opportunity to create dresses for Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cate Blanchett. After the death of Alexander McQueen, Gucci confirmed that the brand would continue. Thus, promoting Burton to Creative Director.
