Massimiliano Giornetti

Designer of the week is Massimiliano Giornetti. He first attended the fashion design course at Polimoda in Florence. This Italian designer got his start in Rome working under Anton Giulio Grande. Specializing in cashmere and knitwear, Giornetti worked on developing Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture collections. In the year 2000, Giornetti worked on the Men's division at Salvatore Ferragamo in which he later became the Creative Director in 2004. In 2010, he got a little taste of creating the women's Ready-to-Wear collection. Soon after, he was promoted to be the first creative director of the entire Ferragamo label. When Giornetti creates his collections, he thinks of the person from the ground up. He feels his a fashion show is like a movie. This, I agree with Giornetti. I sometimes forget that I'm just watching a short show. Giornetti's collections look timeless but yet current while having a hint of old school to it. Listen to Giornetti talk about his collections and you'll understand.
