Designer of the week is Haider Ackermann. Ackermann is known for his creative ready-to-wear collections, blend dress codes, and being influenced by cultural differences. Yves Saint Laurent was a big inspiration and what got Ackermann interested in fashion. By 1994, he went and studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He even did an internship with John Galliano and a assistant to a Belgian designer, Wim Neels. He has also worked for Patrick Van Ommeslaeghe, Mayerline, and Bernhard Willhelm. With all the experience he had gained over the years as well as networking, he created his first label in 2001. His first women's wear collection was featured at Paris fashion week.
His collections began to grab attention from the house of Ruffo, Gilliano at Dior and Karl Lagerfeld. Ruffo hired Ackermann to direct his spring/summer collections as well as autumn/winter collection for 2003. By 2005, Ackermann signed with a Belgian group BVBA 32 and started up his first studio in Paris. His creations, asymmetric designs, different materials, dynamic and urban areas, street wear, modern style, sophistication and refined pieces. By 2013, Ackermann's labet and Demeulemeester was seperated into two independent companies by 32 BVBA.
