Marc Jacobs

Designer of the week is the talented Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs is known for his street wise aesthetics. At a young age, he attended the High School of Art and Design before going to Parsons School of Design in New York. While at Parsons he started to hand create knit sweaters. This became his first collection that he sold to many. He also created a collection for Reuben Thomas, Inc. which with the help of Robert Duffy, this lead the forming of Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc. in the mid 1980's. In 1986, his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label, awarding him the Council of Fashion Designers of America's Perry Ellis Award. From 1988-1992, Jacob had created a women's line, a grunge collection and has been awarded by Perry Ellis.
The Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc. launched Marc Jacobs International Company, L.P in fall of 1993. By 1994, Jacob produced his first full men's collection and became Louis Vuitton's creative director by 1997. His Ready-to-Wear collection that he created for Louis Vuitton made him the one that many artists wanted to talk to. By 2001, his second line called, Marc by Marc Jacobs came alive. Since then he has created many fragrances that was sold in boutiques. In 2007, a documentary titles Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton was created and is a recommended watch. Through the years, Jacob's collection envisions grunge, a little of preppie and a little couture. It continues to grow and he continues to dip his hands in anything that he can touch.
