Under the Gunn is a spin off from Project Runway with our
favorite host, Tim Gunn running the show. Unlike Project Runway, the reality
competition was filmed at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in
Los Angeles. In season one; the alumni from Project Runway were Mondo Guerra,
Anya Ayoung-Chee, and Nick Verreos as the managing, coaching and directing 15
designers. Guest designer judges are: Rachel Roy, Jen Rade, and Zanna Roberts
Rassi. At the beginning of the series, Tim Gunn presents the 15 contestants with
a task.
The mentors analyze the contestant’s skills to determine which
contestant will be on their team. If more than one judge wants a contestant,
then the contestant gets to choose who they want to be under. As the series
continues, Tim Gunn presents challenges that will test the mentors’ ability to
bring out the best in their designers. The challenges continue till there is one
mentor and one designer. If however, their is one designer under the mentor and that designer get's eliminated, that mentor is as well eliminated from the competition. The remaining two mentors and their
designers would then be competing to the finish but in season one, all three
mentors made it to the end with Nick and his designer, Oscar Lopez being the winners.
With Michael Costello, Mila Hermanovski, and Korto Momolu as the new mentors, there will be a second series premiering late 2014.
